Tracey Painted Eye

I’m a graphic designer, creative consultant, and educator. My approach is rooted in process–beginning with understanding the creative problem from every angle, leading the charge to collaborate with all parties, and culminating in a dynamic, budget-conscious solution.

After earning my BFA in Graphic Design from Oregon State University (Go Beavs!) I started my career as a graphic designer at a small Beaverton design studio and I founded Purple Sail Creative LLC in 2012. I started my teaching adventure in 2014 and have worked as an adjunct professor at Portland Community College, Portland State University, Black Hills State University teaching beginner and advanced graphic design classes. Generally speaking, I’m motivated, organized, and have an unhealthy obsession with type.

Volunteering in my community has become a great joy in my life and has led to several great opportunities. I’m a graduate of Leadership Beaverton Class of 2012, recipient of the Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce’s Rising Star Award (2010), I hold a HomePlate Youth Services’ certificate of the “Mastermind Organizer & Holder of Creativity Superpowers” (2014), and I was awarded the “President’s Volunteer Service Award” (2013). I served on HomePlate Youth Services marketing committee and on the task force for Home Runs for Homeless Youth for six years.

Exploring the “Design Work” section of the website is a great way to get a feel for what I do as a whole, but in a nutshell I specialize in business design. I love to help organizations of all sizes and shapes get organized with their marketing and go forward with a cohesive brand identity. I work in all types of print and digital formats and for anything really specialized that I may not know how to do, I have an excellent network of business partners and associates that I work seamlessly with to solve any design or marketing dilemma.

Testimonials…

“It is great working with Tracey at Purple Sail Creative. She is such a good communicator, so reliable, so competent, so patient, and so helpful in many many ways. We are very grateful to have her on our team!”
—Marilyn von Foerster PT, Owner and Inventor of BackTpack

“I wanted to personally thank you for your support and hard work on our Leadership Beaverton class project, Home Runs for Homeless Youth. Your mad skills designing the logo, web pages, flyers, t-shirts, signs (I could go on…) and attention to detail were huge contributions! Not to mention your constant communication and countless hours… there is no way the project would have gone half as successfully. This project was a big deal for HomePlate, we wouldn’t have had the same impact on our own. I’m very thrilled because with this extra support HomePlate is able to begin serving the at-risk youth of Beaverton, and the community is better informed! Tracey, you are very talented, kind and hard-working (and very humble!)– thanks for sharing that with me and HomePlate!”
—Bridget Daniel, HomePlate Youth Services Director

“Put simply and directly, Tracey is an absolute Gem. Her design talents, organizational skills, listening ability (which is so rare!), and warm personality make her an outstanding partner in a branding process. She consistently amazes us with her ability to juggle multiple assignments, clients, and projects – getting us what we need, when we need it and with nothing but a can-do attitude! Her high standards of quality set her apart!”
—Lorraine Clarno, Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce President

“Thank you for making the process so efficient and pain-free. We couldn’t have had such a successful retreat without your help.”
—Michelle & Katie, AIGA New York event coordinators
